Creative participation for positive mental health
The Creative Steps programme fuses arts-based classes and peer-support. Working with health care providers across the south of Glasgow, the programme improves members’ mental health, strengthening their social connections.
Over the programme’s three stages, group members report feeling more resilient, better connected to and able to be part of their community, thereby allowing people to be less reliant on services.

Attending a peer-support group for the first time is daunting. Running out of health care settings, spaces that feel safe and familiar, Step 1 uses physical art activities to ease someone’s journey.
