Step 2: Art groups in the community

Run from our base on Govan Road, these weekly art groups allow members to access ongoing support in their community. All groups are free, led by an artist tutor, with no commitment to take part each week or for a set period of time.

Being part of this class is very important to me. The people who are at the classes are all going through some kind of challenge but when we are together in class we can forget our problems and just enjoy our time together, talking, laughing and doing an activity that we enjoy.

Groups last for two hours with a refreshment break. Groups follow a term structure, with breaks between terms every 8 to 10 weeks. Currently our groups run from Monday to Thursday. All materials and equipment provided free.

New members do not have to attend Step 1 of the programme if they are happy not to do so. They can join Step 2 provided they meet the referral criteria.

Referral criteria

The Creative Steps is a free referral service for adults (over 16 years old). Specifically, our groups are for individuals living with enduring mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety.

Self-referral to community classes

If you would like to find out more or to join our groups, please get in touch for a chat. We will arrange a time to meet with you so that you can see the group space and ask any questions. If you are happy to join we will look at your availability and find a place for you.

On your first day, we will greet you and take you to meet our tutor and the group. All of our groups are friendly and relaxed so you will be made to feel very welcome.

Referral information for health care professional

If you are interested in referring one of your service users, please get in touch by phone or email. We will arrange a referral meeting with the individual, which you are more than welcome to attend.

If you work within one of our outreach locations (listed below), please get in contact with the designated staff member your location to make a referral.
