Our long-term partnership with The King’s Trust Scotland (formally The Prince’s Trust) provides people aged between 16 and 22 with the skills they need to succeed in further education and the screen-industry.
By working on all aspects of a short film’s production, screenwriting to post-production editing, young people gain a firsthand experience of what a career in the media can be like, developing transferable skills (teamworking and communications) and building their self-belief in the process.
Embedded within the structure of The King’s Trust’s core courses, our hands-on filmmaking workshops provide young people from across Glasgow with the opportunity to create their own microfilm or promotional feature.
Focusing on film fundamentals, screenwriting and story development, as well as the technicalities of filming and post-production, the workshops allow young people to practice the skills and knowledge gained across the course.
Culminating in a public screening, this partnership celebrates what young people achieve through the course – improved self-belief and confidence. Moreover, the screening provides a moment of reflection, allowing young people to connect the skills they have learnt and their further ambitions.
Specifically tailored for young people with an interest in pursuing a career in the film and TV, our trainee programme gives young people real world experience of life across the industry.
With placements lasting around six months, Production Assistants gain full access to what a life is like on set, as well as in the editing suite. Further, with our focus on community co-creation, Production Assistants develop transferable skills in workshop facilitation and community building, equipping them with the ability to create inspiring environments for others.
